AAPLOG Loses a Giant: R. Don Gambrell, Jr, M.D.
Board Member, AAPLOG

Dr. R. Don Gambrell, Jr. died unexpectedly at his home June 20, 2007. Dr. Gambrell was a world renowned Reproductive Endocrinologist, author and lecturer. He served on the board of AAPLOG for many years and is fondly remembered by his fellow board members as a man of great gentleness and humility, never given to impatience or arrogance. As one board member recalls:

He valued human life as a gift of God from its very beginning. He sought what was best for the health and well being of women patients. Both of these virtues made Dr. Gambrell an extremely valuable member AAPLOG. He was willing and anxious to do even the most menial tasks to further the goals of this organization. Though he was a master of many things medical, in his heart and attitude he was a true servant. Physicians like Dr. Gambrell do not appear very often.

We at AAPLOG will miss him tremendously. Rest in peace Don.
