The Seventh Annual Matthew J. Bulfin Mid-Winter Symposium

January 18-19,  2008

Coral Ridge Conference Center

Campus of Coral Ridge Ministries

Fort Lauderdale, FL

This year's symposium is dedicated to the memory of R. Don Gambrell, M.D. and continues in the  tradition of prior mid-winter symposiums with a varied educational program, sure to contain something for everyone.

There will be updates from experts in a number of disciplines exploring the relationship of abortion to adverse medical and psychological effects in women.

The potentially contentious issues surrounding HPV vaccination and the Plan B approval process will be explored.

Additional topics will include updates on mifepristone, stem cell issues, crisis pregnancy centers, perinatal hospice and legislation related to prolife issues.

In addition, Americans United for Life (AUL) will be offering a special media training session, prior to the CME meeting, on January 17. See the the end of this page for further information about this training and how to register.

The most convenient accommodations are at the Courtyard by Marriott, Fort Lauderdale East, phone number (954)-771-8100 (or (800)-321-2211). The hotel is two blocks south of the meeting facility, has an outdoor pool, breakfast in-house, and convenient parking. A block of rooms is reserved. When you call, identify yourself as an AAPLOG meeting participant. Discounted room rates will be $175 per night. This discount will apply until January 1, 2008 so you must make your reservations by that time, however, we suggest you make your reservation a good deal earlier as the Courtyard by Marriott is very popular with our meeting participants.

If you are flying, the closest airport is the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. It is approximately a $40 taxi ride to the Courtyard by Marriott. A shuttle called TJ Transportation is available for $15. If you are using the shuttle, call (877)-924-6669 when you arrive at the airport before you pick up your baggage. Their shuttle employees will then arrange to meet you by the baggage area.

If you are coming into the Miami International Airport, the taxi fare to the Courtyard by Marriott will be approximately $80. There is a Super Shuttle available. This can be arranged by calling (305)-871-2000. They can give you the cost of the fare when you call.

We would encourage you to make your registration for the meeting, reservations for lodging, and travel reservations as early as possible.

SPECIAL MEDIA TRAINING OFFER

AUL is sponsoring a special media training January 17th, 2008 in conjunction with the AAPLOG Seventh Annual Matthew J. Bulfin Mid Winter Symposium, and we invite you to participate. We will host this media training at Coral Ridge Ministries Media Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Our primary focus will be a review of methods, articulating, and defending issues surrounding abortion risks to women. Leading the training will be Fortune 500 media trainer, Teri Goudie. Mrs. Goudie, an AUL board member, has led multiple training sessions for our organization including training AUL Legal Institute participants as well as pregnancy center directors at Care Net's national conferences. Her extensive media background makes her an invaluable resource in preparing pro-life leaders for their interactions with the media.

As host, AUL is covering the cost of the studio rental, equipment and other incidental costs associated with the training. Teri Goudie is donating her time and expertise. As a participant, your only responsibility will be personal travel costs, meals and hotel. We invite all participants to make a donation towards training costs or to Mrs. Goudie if you so desire.

There are 24 spaces available for participants, so please R.S.V.P. on or before January 10, 2008 if you will attend.

Homework:

One of the main goals of the media training is to provide you with the tools to respond to hostile questions from the media regarding the health risks of abortion. We would like your help in pinpointing your specific media needs.

Please email kay.warren@aul. org by December 31st, 2007 with three potential questions from the media for which we can help you prepare. This will enable our media trainer, Teri Goudie, to be prepared with questions that require specific attention during the media training.

Coral Ridge Ministries Media Center
